Description

She is calm, she wonders throught the woods looking for a prey. This is her forrest, she has no memory, no feelings. She is empty inside. Someone has hurt her in the past, that's for sure, she does not remember who. She knows that she loves daisies. Sometimes she wakes up with blood all over her hands, scratches on her body. She doesn't know where they come from. Young men who come into the forest never come back.
She is the daughter of the king, peasants have seen her many times on the edge of the forrest, dirty, covered in leafs. They tell stories, yet they cannot do anything about it. They tried to kill her in secrecy but nobody who went on this journey, came back. She is the only daughter of the king. One day she will become the queen. Things will get worse...

this is a very nice painting, Katea. The folds of the dress and the detail are outstanding. The dark mood is also appealing to me, of course. My only crit is that the contrast between the background trees and her upper body seems flat. Otherwise, very well done and I look forward to your future work!

Do you mean that the trees look a bit too close to her? Or is it sth else? Should I make the trees a bit less contrasted to make them look more distant?

Beautiful painting. I agree with the above crits so I will save the time in retyping them. Regardless, I find this piece amazing. The story is also quite interesting. Reminds me of the movie called "The Village." Keep up the good work!

You've done a beautiful paintwork here. You're a master painting fabrics, and the atmosphere is wonderful.

However, there are many weird things going on here. The area around her mouth is strange as well as her eyebrows. How she hold her knife is also strange. Is she holding it at all? It's like it's just flowing in the air under her hand.
I find the position of it weird too. Is that how you would hold a knife when you're out in the woods looking for victims? ...or just stabbed someone? Maybe it's just me, but I'd make her give a strong grip around the knife, and change the angle of it.

to elaborate....there is a contrast issue with the woods and the figure because the woods are painted too light. To me it looks like there is a shadow from her head on the woods like it was a sheet hung behind her and it had trees painted on it. I think if you darkened the background woods, there would be better contrast. I am a big fan of your paintings Katea, and these are only suggestions for an already amazing painting! Oh and SandraS is right about the grip of the knife...it doesn't look correct to me either. Keep up the great work Katea!

Very nice character painting, on a personal level the blood puts me off a bit, but I'm very squeemish. The work in the dress is very good, and I like the details in the shawl.

Fantastic. I like the story line behind it. Personally I think it's the story that makes a painting come to life, and this one is intriguing.
